The Victorian Government is making it easier for more Victorians businesses and households to avail benefits from its updated Solar Rebates Program. This will allow more households and businesses with up to 50 employees to apply for solar rebates, a threshold which was previously limited to 20.

With the new rebate criteria, eligible businesses in Victoria will be able to reduce the upfront costs on commercial solar systems by up to AU$8,500. The rebate is worth up to AU$3,500, and also comes with an additional interest-free loan worth between AU$1,000 and AU$5,000 for qualified businesses “to reduce the initial outlay for solar installation.

The Minister for Solar Homes, Lily D’Ambrosio was quoted as saying, “Expanding the program will help even more Victorians to save money, while supporting clean energy jobs and helping meet our target of halving emissions by 2030.”

We’re putting power back into the hands of Victorian Homes and businesses – driving down energy costs and boosting supply, while creating 5,500 jobs,” she added.

The solar rebate program expansion will also allow eligible households to reduce their upfront solar costs by up to AU$3,800, which includes up to AU$2,400 in rebates and AU$1,400 interest-free loan for qualified homes.
