Solar FAQs
What government incentives are available for installing solar?
You may receive a feed in tariff (FiT) which is a credit for any excess electricity that is not used and is sent back to the grid. This will show as a credit on your electricity bill. Feed-in tariff rates and how they are redeemed varies from state to state, and we can tell you what you may be eligible for.
The Small-scale Renewable Energy Scheme creates a financial incentive for individuals and small businesses to install eligible solar systems that are 100kW or smaller, through the creation of small-scale technology certificates (STC’s). These certificates are calculated based on the amount of electricity a system produces and then offset the cost of the system at the point of sale.
If you are looking to install a larger commercial solar system that is over 100kW, you may be able to benefit from the Large-Scale Renewable Energy Target and Large-scale Generation Certificates (LGCs). These are created on a yearly basis and the amount generated is dependent on the size of your solar system and where it is located.
Are GEE Energy PV panels and inverters tested to Australian quality standards?
Yes. In a market flooded with substandard and potentially dangerous imports, Australians must be vigilant when choosing solar energy products. GEE only stocks solar PV panels and inverters approved by the – Australia’s peak body for clean energy. Is my solar system covered by a warranty?
Yes. Every solar PV panel we sell is covered by a performance warranty, usually spanning 25 years. Additionally, manufacturing warranties can cover your entire solar power system for up to 10 years. As we stock a variety of brands, warranty specifications will differ from product to product. However as GEE Energy is a Approved Solar Retailer, you are also entitled to a whole-of-system 5 year warranty. Now that’s peace of mind!
What does my warranty cover?
As a Approved Solar retailer, GEE Energy offers a 5 year warranty from the day of installation. In addition to any failure of hardware, the whole-of-system warranty includes fixing any issues that may be caused by installation such as water or roof damage and any kind of faulty wiring, isolators or circuit breakers. Most panel manufacturers also guarantee 80% power production for the first 25 years of your solar system’s life. Our inverters come with a minimum of 5 years warranty. To determine the official warranty guidelines of our products, please ask one of our team.
How long does the installation of a solar system take?
Installation time frames vary depending on the location of your property and the size of the system. Generally, it takes around a day to install a 10kW system and around a week to install a 100kW system. GEE Energy arrange for pre-approval documents to be submitted before installation and will facilitate distributor connection arrangements once the system is installed
Will my solar panels withstand extreme weather conditions?
Solar panels are designed to withstand harsh weather climates, from blistering heat to freezing cold. Our solar panels are put through extreme hail tests, where they endure an onslaught of ice balls travelling at over 80km/h in 11 different impact locations. It’s safe to say that they’re pretty tough, but if you’re still worried that the weather has compromised your solar PV panels, please contact us and arrange a service inspection.
Will my solar power system work during a power blackout?
In the event of a blackout your solar power system will switch off and remain inactive until power returns. This is a mandatory safety feature of your solar power system which is designed to protect those who may be working on the blacked-out grid system. If you would like back up power in the case of a blackout, a GEE Energy expert on battery storage would be happy to help.
