Acacia Caravan Case Study

The Acacia Caravan Park is a family-friendly caravan park providing an excellent range of accommodation in Ararat, Victoria. Located just a short walk from the Ararat Town Centre, the Acacia Caravan Park uses a considerable amount of energy powering its range of cabins, units, and powered sites. After experiencing rising energy costs and annual bills topping 36k, Acacia Caravan Park turned to GEE Energy for help.

The Solution

GEE Energy’s engineers proposed a 35kW solar PV system to help combat the Acacia Caravan Park’s rising energy costs. This was proposed to Acacia Caravan Park’s owner, Matt Linsley, in early November 2019. By the end of the same month GEE Energy had installed 117 x Canadian 300w solar panels and 3 x Fronius Symo 10 inverters. The Canadian panels are popular due to their split cell technology and better performance in the shade. As the Acacia Caravan Park offers plenty of ‘shady sites for a relaxed setting’, the Canadian solar panels were perfect for this installation. These tier one solar panels were paired with Fronius Symo 10 Inverters due to the Fronius’ inbuilt DC isolator, which reduces the need for additional isolation points, and their superior performance in extreme environmental conditions.


GEE Energy’s 35kW solar PV system has made a significant impact on the Acacia Caravan Park’s energy bills. Before the solar system was installed, they were paying an average monthly bill of around $3,000 (and an annual bill topping $36,000). Now the park has solar installed, Matt is enjoying a 30% decrease in energy costs – saving around $12,000 a year.  As a part of our maintenance service, GEE Energy monitors the Acacia Caravan Park’s solar PV system to ensure it is running efficiently.
